FREQUENTLY ASKED
QUESTIONS
How does BPC membership work? What is "The Socialite"?
BPC Membership is $55 per month, billed monthly for 3 months to cover a full trimester of programming. "The Socialite" is our unlimited access version of membership that guarantees access to all our weekly programming pickleball programming and our member-exclusive social events.
How long is a membership term?
Memberships run in trimesters (3-month increments). Consistency is what makes community thrive. A three-month commitment allows members to build real relationships, not just drop in and out. It also helps us plan better programming and make the most of our team’s energy. Instead of one-off drop-ins, members commit to a 3-month term filled with weekly play, exclusive events, and curated experiences.
The trimester terms are:
- January–March
- May–July
- September–November
When and where do you play?
We, typically, host events every Monday evening to build consistency into our programming and community. We also throw in some weekend events to spice things up.
We play at a variety of locations in the Charlotte area such as Huntersville, Concord, Camp North End, South End and Charlotte proper - just to name a few. We rotate the location each week to give members an opportunity to visit a variety of locations and accommodate members living in various areas.
The location of each event is included on the booking site and will be communicated at the beginning of each month.
Do I have to be Black to join BPC?
While our name is Black Pickleball & Company, our community is open to everyone. We center and celebrate Black culture and experiences, but you do not have to be Black to play or become a member. If you believe in community, connection, and fun—we want you here.
What does a BPC membership include?
Membership includes:
🎾 Unlimited access to weekly pickleball events at premier facilities
🏆 Entry into one tournament every trimester
🎉 Exclusive social events just for members
🛍️ Discounts on BPC merchandise
🌍 Diverse community connections across ages, skill levels, and backgrounds
🤝 Volunteer opportunities to teach pickleball in underrepresented communities
Why do we have a membership model versus allowing anyone to come?
Over the years, we’ve learned that $10 one-off tickets don’t cover the cost of weekly programming and—more importantly—they don’t create lasting community. Membership helps us protect our team’s time, focus on impact, and build a sustainable community that grows together.
This structure also allows us to expand to new facilities, offer a more curated experience, and provide consistent programming you can count on.
Is it $55 per month? Or $55 for the entire trimester? How did we get from $10 per event to $55 per month?
It is $55, per month. The commitment is for 3 months at this rate.
This price is less than $4 more expensive, per event, than our previous pricing structure if one were to attend every Monday. Our biggest ask is commitment so we can plan based on a consistent number of attendees.
Can I come if I have never played before?
Absolutely! We all start somewhere, and most of our community started by learning at a BPC event. Our community and volunteers will help make sure you learn the ropes.
What happens if I don't want to commit to a full trimester?
We’ve significantly limited one-off drop-ins so we can focus on building intentional community through membership. Occasionally, there may be special events open to non-members, but the main experience will be reserved for members.
Membership is designed to last the full trimester, so spots cannot be shared or transferred. If you’re unsure about committing, we recommend waiting until the next open enrollment period or keep an eye out for our drop-in events.
How does billing work for the trimester?
Our programs run on a trimester schedule (3 months). Membership is billed monthly, but when you join, you are committing to the full trimester because a full commitment helps us plan events, secure facilities, and provide a consistent experience for all members.
Membership fees are charged once a month for 3 consecutive months.
Can I become a member during an active trimester?
Typically, our spots are full within the first month of the trimester. If there are spots left, you're welcome to join at any time.
You’ll be charged the full monthly rate at signup, and then a pro-rated discount will be applied to your next billing cycle to account for the time you missed.
Why are you a non-profit?
Great question! Every dollar we receive is allocated to our operations and programs. While we do have a membership model that is primarily for building community connections, in addition to our other focus areas, we invest equal effort in serving and supporting underrepresented populations through our community partnerships.
How do I earn rewards points?
Members can earn rewards points by volunteering, attending events, and participating in community activities. Points can later be redeemed for perks like merchandise discounts and other special benefits.
What if I have more questions that aren't covered here?
Please send us a note via the Contact page on our website.
Are there any age restrictions to becoming a member?
All members must be 21 or older to join our programming. BPC is designed as an adult community space, and this policy helps us keep the focus on building meaningful connections among peers.
How can I join the BPC team as a leader and/or volunteer?
We are always looking for more people to help fulfill our mission! Check out "Get Involved" on our website to learn about leadership team openings and volunteer opportunities.
We host volunteer orientation once a trimester. We will send out information and invites to all those who have filled out the volunteer inquiry form via our website on the "Get Involved" page. We have a small, but mighty, team so you may not hear back right a way. However, we do have a monthly rhythm to reaching out to those who've connected via our online forms.
